PRINTS
A giclée (zhee-KLAY) print is a fine art print made on an inkjet printer. We print on 310gsm 100% cotton rag stock using genuine Epson Ultra-Chrome Pro inks.
What does this all mean?
GSM stands for grams per square meter and typically indicates the thickness of a paper. For reference, normal printer paper is 80gsm, or poster stock is 120-140gsm. At 310gsm, the stock we use is stiff but still bendable, ensuring your prints are durable and have a beautiful, quality feel to them.
Cotton rag is the industry standard for photographic printing in galleries worldwide, due to its sustainability, quality and longevity. Cotton rag refers to papers made from cotton textile remnants. Whilst the cotton industry has much to answer for, cotton rag paper production repurposes textile industry waste, rather than driving new cotton demand. This process diverts a byproduct from landfills, instead of requiring additional cotton cultivation, helping offset some of the industry's environmental impact. The nature of the stock means it will not yellow over time and, when framed by Host Studio behind our UV protectant plexiglass, is guaranteed not to fade for over 100 years. The matte finish of the cotton rag stock provides a beautiful surface for your fine art print.
Our prints are available in your choice of black, white, or ash timber frames, designed to complement a wide range of decor styles. We do, however, also offer all our prints unframed, allowing you to choose your own framing should our standard options not suit your preference. This flexibility ensures you can customise the final look of the artwork in your space.
FRAMING
Our handmade Victorian Ash timber frames are FSC certified and locally sourced. They are carefully milled, hand-sanded, and painted in Melbourne. Each frame is then meticulously assembled into a contemporary shadowbox style, setting your photo back from the museum-grade plexiglass to create an elegant depth reminiscent of gallery displays.
As an alternative to traditional glass, our hand-crafted frames feature premium 3mm museum-grade plexiglass. This shatter-resistant material provides superior protection, safeguarding your artwork against UV damage and fading for over 100 years. Significantly lighter than glass, it reduces the risk of damage during transit and makes hanging easier. Despite these benefits, plexiglass is visually indistinguishable from glass, ensuring the artwork's clarity is maintained, while providing enhanced durability and longevity.
Our frames come in three sizes and two profiles:
Medium - 15mm face / 30mm depth
Large/X-Large - 19mm face / 38mm depth
Each piece arrives ready to hang, allowing you to effortlessly showcase your chosen artwork in your space.
BORDER OR FULL BLEED
Our framed wall art comes with the option to be printed with a white border or at full bleed (no border). This depends on personal preference and what best suits your space and aesthetic.
All print-only orders come with a border, giving you extra space to frame the photo yourself. Please refer to the Size Guide for the border width of your chosen print size.
