OUR FOCUS ON

SUSTAINABILITY

INTENTIONAL DESIGN

We focus on efficient sizing to maximise material usage and minimise waste, with timeless designs built to last.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

From FSC-certified local timber to eco-friendly packaging materials, we prioritise sustainable options from start to finish.

Made to Last

Gallery-quality archival prints and durable custom frames designed to preserve your artwork for 100+ years.

At Host Studio, we're committed to doing right by our planet - because, if you hadn't noticed, we love it! We're constantly working on ways to make our business more eco-friendly, because every little bit helps. From how we travel to the materials and packaging we use, sustainability is always on our mind. We're not perfect, but we're always looking to improve.

INTENTIONAL DESIGN

We offer our products in four carefully selected sizes, optimised to maximise material usage and minimise waste during production. While we're actively seeking more eco-friendly alternatives to foam core and plexiglass, our current focus is on eliminating unnecessary waste throughout our production process.

Our frame designs embrace minimalism, featuring timeless neutral colours. We're committed to creating lasting products that stand apart from fast fashion trends. By choosing simple, enduring designs, we ensure our frames remain stylish for years to come.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

Our frames are crafted from locally-sourced Victorian ash, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). FSC certification offers unparalleled protection for rare and endangered forests and wildlife, surpassing all other forest certification schemes. It's also the only system mandating consultation with local Indigenous Peoples.

We print on 310gsm 100% cotton rag paper, widely regarded as the most environmentally friendly photographic paper available. This paper uses no tree fibres; instead, it's produced from a recycled by-product of the textile industry. Whilst the cotton industry faces its own environmental challenges, using this by-product is considered to have a low environmental impact, as no cotton is specifically grown for this paper stock.

DESIGNED TO LAST

We believe in creating products that stand the test of time. Each frame we offer is meticulously crafted to gallery standards in our Melbourne workshop. These high-quality frames are built to protect and showcase your wall art for over 100 years.

We've chosen materials that prioritise both protection and presentation. Instead of standard glass, we use 3mm plexiglass - a premium, shatter-resistant alternative. This museum-grade material not only guards against accidental damage but also blocks harmful UV rays that could fade the images over time. With these carefully selected frames, you can be confident that the photograph you purchase today will maintain its vibrancy and impact for decades, becoming a timeless addition to your home or office.

Packaging

To enhance the sustainability of our supply chain, we have transitioned from traditional bubble wrap to Polycell EcoPure. This innovative bubble wrap alternative is biodegradable and is designed to break down over time in landfill environments.

Additionally, we package our frames using cartons made from 3BC stock. These cartons are crafted with 77% recycled materials and 33% FSC-certified kraft fibres sourced from Gippsland, Victoria.
